PUTTING SOME SPIRIT BACK INTO YOUR DRINKS
Non-alcoholic doesn't have to be bland, boring or average.
Looking for flavour, a bite and a great experience? you've come to the right place.
Eceaux is inspired by the vibrant and spirited Café Culture scene of Europe, re-imagined for today’s modern age of wellness.
The Eceaux story began when Founder Anne took up the Dry January challenge back in 2019, after a particularly indulgent festive season. Eager to try some of the new non-alcoholic spirits ranges, she quickly spotted a gap. Where was the flavour? and where was the “feeling”?
Originally from France, Anne was longing for the complexity and bold taste of some of the great European liqueurs, aperitifs and digestifs. Iconic spirits which are leisurely sipped at the Café whilst watching the world go by.
A trained herbalist she began to experiment with her own concoctions from her kitchen, with the help of her beloved “big bertha”, a miniature 2 litre copper still.
After months of maceration, percolation and distillation, Anne got to the taste profiles and effects she was after; using herbs and spices all but forgotten by modern drink producers, such as the richly herbaceous wormwood or the bitter gentian.
To these she added potent botanicals praised for their ability to stimulate or relax, such as red ginseng, valerian or passion flower.
In the process Anne has rekindled the original concept of the invigorating ‘tonic’ or ‘liqueur ‘– where apothecaries and medieval monasteries flavoured their healing potions with fragrant and flavourful additions to make the ingredients more palatable.
She named her creation Eceaux, short for ‘avec eau’ or ‘with water’. Her ambition was to create a bold and intense taste experience, where you’d want to add a splash of water to open up the flavours. Just as you might do with whisky or rich spirit; a ritual she picked up from her adoptive Scotland.
